NE Region

 

Bergen, Passaic, Hudson, Union & Essex Counties

 

Job Summary: Responsible for coordination, set up and conducting of orientations/trainings for supporting veteran parents. Also responsible for follow up to veteran parents and parents requesting support. Outreach to groups such as hospitals, day care agencies, local support groups, school districts, physicians and other community based organizations, to identify prospective veteran parents as well as parents interested in receiving support.

 

Requirements: Parent of a child with a disability or special health care need. Experience with or knowledge of the service delivery system in NJ, especially Special Child Health Services case management. Comfort with personal sharing in small group settings. Good telephone and writing skills and the ability to speak in public. Must be able to travel throughout the region to do outreach and orientations/trainings. Attend quarterly Parent to Parent advisory board meetings and quarterly SPAN All-Staff meetings.

 

Hours: 7.5 hours per week plus per diem trainings.

Accounts Payable / Receivable Clerk                 Part-time

Important fiscal position for a non-profit organization serving families and professionals. Candidate should have strong communication, customer service and organizational skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is expected; familiarity with additional software programs, such as Peachtree. is valued. Organization expects a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

Job duties include:

1)      Matching, batching, coding and entering invoices.

2)      Entering, posting and reconciling batches.

3)      Researching and resolving accounts payable or accounts receivable issues with grantors or vendors.

4)      Updating and reconciling sub-ledger to the general ledger.

5)      Maintaining cash applications, account reconciliations,

6)             Various clerical duties as assigned.

Job qualifications, demonstrated through experience or education include:

1)      Reliable and punctual attendance;

2)      At least 2 years experience in accounting and/or bookkeeping positions;

3)      Proficient in use of Microsoft Office particularly Microsoft Excel;

4)      Proficient in use of accounting software packages, PeachTree – a plus

5)      Attention to detail;

6)      Strong organization skills;

7)      Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members;

8)      Strong oral and written communication skills in both Spanish and English;

Hours:    20 Hours per week

Salary:   $13.00 per hour

Statewide Parent Advocacy Network is seeking a qualified individual with a strong commitment to the importance and significance of the involvement of empowered and educated parents/caregivers in improving academic & health outcomes for children in New Jersey. SPAN is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower families and inform and involve professionals and other individuals interested in the healthy development and educational rights of children. SPAN is funded through private contributions and grants from government, foundations, corporations and individuals.

Qualifications

Must be parent of a child five years old or older with a disability and/or special health care need, and has been involved with their county Special Child Health Service Case Management Unit.  Must reside in the county for which you are applying:  Middlesex   Preferred:  parent of a child who has gone through Early Intervention and transitioned to Preschool. Preferred: Bilingual

Experience, as well as training that demonstrates the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:

  1. Good verbal and written communication skills;
  1. Personal and professional experience in education, health, and social services issues affecting families of children with disabilities and/or special health care needs and empathic to those needs;
